Two words clearly stand out in the book title – “Ministry” and “Misery.” Two of my earlier books, “Spiritual Mentorship For Pastors and Church Leaders Today” and Pastoral Care and Holistic Ministry: The Private, Professional, and Public Lives of the Pastor/Leader,” have intensely dealt with and expatiated on ministry as a subject. I also discussed how the individual minister should respond to God’s Call upon one’s life, and the many challenges associated with the Call.

This book simply narrows the discussion to ministers who went through personal problems and challenges of life, which eventually gave birth to their present ministries. There are many such ministries out there, probably including yours, but I am personally touched by the ministry of Tim Ryan, to whom I have dedicated this book to both honor and appreciate for availing himself to be used of the Lord in setting free from all forms of addiction, many people, especially the youth in our homes, communities, schools, churches, and in many countries. Tim powerfully shares his personal testimony of liberation from addiction with many today. Thus, his present ministry was his past misery.
